Road Trip Part 6 - Canard à la presse

Road Trip Part 6 - Canard à la presse

So off we went to Lyons la Foret before heading to our next hotel, it's a really small town but filled with historical buildings and this little town is classified as one of the most beautiful and charming villages of France.

A nice salad for lunch under the sun!

Chateau Gaillard

I love the setting of where the hotel is located but mind you, we thought we'd even got lost or to keyed in the wrong address! But thankfully, we were at the right place except it was hidden behind a massive red brick wall which surrounds the chateaux all around.

The 16th century bed I slept in for the next few days at Chateau de Bonnemare. yup... the bed I slept in was from the 16th century, the window's design are dated back to the 17th and 18th century and so were the rest of the decor of the room/suite, so where ever we stepped or sat, I felt like I was about to break something or somewhat... scary feeling that was. Especially when the owner of the chateau specifically asked us not to do certain things or how to sit on the bed and even the chairs.... I felt like I was living in a museum... There's more, the owner's family has owned the the chateau since 1888...

Since we haven't had a chance to have a look around town yet, the owner of the chateau had kindly pointed out a few restaurants for us to try. We ended up going to a little town near by called Pont-Saint-Pierre and dined at the Auberge de l'Andelle.

Foie Gras

Monk Fish
Casserole of Calf
Veal with foie gras jus
Tough Choices
Iced Lime, Vodka with Combawa Lemon Cake
Strawberry Macaroon
The next day...
We travelled to the main town Rouen

Cathedrale Notre Dame de Rouen

Eglise Jeanne d'Arc - Vieux Marche

La Couronne
As for dinner, we stumbled upon this restaurant after walking around Rouen. Believe it or not, but this place first begun in 1345 as an inn, I didn't believe what I read then, but still, that is just a small part of it's history. We actually wanted to sit downstairs at the room called "The Joan of Arc" but since we were walk-ins, we were moved up to a charming and very Norman decor room called "The Rotisseurs"

Lobster Salad

Preparing for the duck
Having a 'Blood Duck' is definitely a treat! It's one of France's specialties, if you ever get a chance to have it, go for it! Not many places do have this dish because of the preparation of serving the duck itself. It's definitely a treat.

More cheeses to end the evening with
