Evening Skincare Routine

I know it's taken me a lot longer to post my Evening Skincare Routine because between the this post from my Morning Skincare Routine, my skin was acting up. Changing my skincare routine is a pretty big thing for me and I do normally stick with the same products till I feel like it's not doing what it's suppose to. Some products are still the same as my Morning Skincare Routine (read here), so I won't blabber too much about the same products I have listed before. First thing I do is wash my hands and take my contacts off. Because I use the daily ones, I don't have to fuss over with the contact solutions.

Bifesta : Eye Makeup Remover
Shake this baby up till the solution is murky (yes, till it looks murky). I find that one cotton pad is enough for both my eyes! Takes off all my super waterproof mascara and eyeliner! It even quickly takes off my falsies off just by gently soaking the product a little longer onto my eye and then give it a gentle wiggle till the falsies come off. It's a drugstore product too so I don't have to feel like I have to use it sparingly. The package does recommend you to remove your contacts off too before you using the solution.

Bioderma : Crealine H2O
My mom was the first to introduce this to me when I was in boarding school all those years ago! The only place we could use to find it was in France when we drove down to Paris! I'm not gona lie, after seeing this product come to hype over the years and trying different face makeup removers, this is by far the best for a water based makeup remover! I use about 2 cotton pads drenched with the product on a day to day bases unless I've decided to have full-on makeup to an event/party.

Lancome : Mousse Douceur
I give my face a good splash of water before using this. With my hands wet, I squeeze about a little more than a pea size, rub it between my fingers till it foams up and then apply it onto my entire face in circular motion. Concentrating the product mostly on my nose and cheeks and jaw area where I normally have the most makeup products applied and might have missed from using both makeup removers. Until I feel like I've gotten all the excess makeup off, then I will wash my face before using the normal Galateis Douceur (cleansing milk).

Then I'm most likely headed for the shower.

I then use the usual toner by Lancome as well as the Bicelle Hydra B5 Gel.

Phyto-C : Moisturize Cream
I've used up the Clinique one I've had before and have switched to this one. When I first used it, I thought the texture was too thick and would break me out but little did I know, a little really does go a long way. Massaging the cream to my face and use to excess product down to my neck area. I just wish more of these creams were put into a pump so I don't have to stick my fingers in... I'm not the biggest fan on using a scoop either because I end up losing them after a while.

Bobbi Brown : Hydrating Eye Cream
Applying this after I let all my moisturizer have be absorbs to my skin and giving my eyes a quick little massage on the way. I've actually had it depotted into this small container because I still have some left from the last time I went travelling!

A good lip balm and then off to bed reading blogs, a book or watching some vlogs.

Revieww : Heroine Make Mascara

Excuse messy hair!
I look so much more awake with some mascara on! That is all that I have on apart from my brows
Left: without | Right: applied 2 coats of mascara

A little background about my lashes. Typical Asian. I think it really says it all. Mono oily lids, short and straight lashes which looks even shorter when I have my eyes opened, half my lashes are tucked in cause of my mono eyelids. I will say this really is one of my holy grail items! Why? Having tried from the hyped drugstore products to the high end, this product really has never failed me. Even the Benefit They're Real gave me panda eyes... Don't get me wrong, I still love that mascara but not as much as the Heroine Make mascara.

The one we have here is the Volume and Curl, the wand is pretty standard. They also have a Long and Curl version where the wand is a curl. Because the bristles are not too compacted, I'm still able to separate my lashes and manage to lengthen and volumizes my thin lashes all at once. The product drys on the lash pretty quickly, so I don't have to worry about the mascara transferring because of my mono lids, but it still lasts 3 months before you're suppose to toss it out and get a new mascara. I love it even more because this really is waterproof 'proof'. My proof? I live in a very humid climate and have watery eyes too. Every summer, this is one mascara I do not go out without! The only other reason I say it really is waterproof, I can't get the mascara off without an oil based makeup remover!

So, with mono lids or not like I do, I know many of you suffer oily skin like myself. If you can get your hands on one of these, I'm really recommending it! It's priced at HKD$79 and I can't ask for more. I'm not sponsored to write this but I used to buy this on sasa.com (here), because I know they ship internationally and for a lot of the Asian products, I really did rely and survived on restocking from this website when I use to live back in England.

Okay Okay... I may have went over board with the obsession with hair accessories here... but since I do have a few weddings to attend this year and especially this coming summer, I just couldn't help myself but have a look what's out there and I NEED HELP! I love all the above too! Some are quite out there and in your face but others are simple, yet elegant. Because I can't decide what to get or let alone the hairstyle itself! So a little blinged up accessories can always give a little more inspiration than you think! Plus, I'm still on the hunt for my perfect flower crown or headband that I will love. Well, I might have to make my own if I can't ever find one.

I always love Johnny Loves Rosie's hair accessories, it can go from a simplistic style to rock'n'roll and festival like! Not to mention Jennifer Behr's collection are always classic and occasional appropriate. Though, it will do a bit of a damage to my bank account...

I love watching tutorials and doing them myself too! So if anyone has any recommendations, feel free to let me know who I should watch or read! Totally open to suggestions !!

Review : GlamGlow SuperMud

I know the Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate (the black edition) has been a hype in the beauty market and especially with youtubers and bloggers. It's not the easiest thing to find in Hong Kong I tell you. Because plenty of American products don't send to Asian countries... but FINALLY! saw this in Joyce Beauty in Lane Crawford, and just had to grab one! After contemplating which version I should get, I ended up with the SuperMud Clearing Treatment. Because it claims to help with pores, blemishes, pimples, breakouts, spots, in-grown hair and all that goodness with their new Acnecidic-6, Pore Matrix, Bio Life Cell-Science and Teaoxi.

Since it's clay based, it does remind me of the time when I went to Sicily one summer for a wedding many years ago at a mud bath. I didn't really like the smell of what was in the little pot but then after I applied it did smell more minty than the plain old clay masks do. From the package, it also says you can use 17 times of the 34g (1.2 oz) product as a full facial mask. Since I didn't think I needed to treat my entire face, I went for the spot treatment instead. I've concentrated a thin layer on my T-zone, nose, cheeks and chin area. After 20 mins, I could really see where my worst pores were (aka: my cheek and nose). It really did feel like all the oily gunk surfaced and washed off, leaving my face pretty soft and smooth. The best for me was visible pore have shirked! It did say that I can just wash it off with water but I prefer to wipe it off with damp cotton pads.

This little pot of goodness doesn't come cheap at all. I've checked that this exact same one costs USD$69 in the states. Here in Hong Kong, a whooping HKD$560 (about USD$72). Shouldn't have been surprised since it's imported after all.

Even for it's price, I've got to try a little longer time before calling it a holy grail but definitely worth a try!

Candle Craze

Who doesn't love a good scented candle? It's pretty hard to find the candles which I love here in Hong Kong. Either it's too expensive or the scents are just not up to standard. While I was out shopping with a friend I stumbled upon a shop called Dudes in Causeway Bay where they sell mostly American products. I mean... that is like a dream come true here!! It's not very often you see Bath and Body Works or Yankee candles around that often! They also sell other beauty and fashion products too! Lorac, Michelle Phan's em cosmetics line, Too Faced, Nars Narcissist palette! Urban Decay, Sigma, Aeropostale by Beathany Mota, Toms, Keds. They even have food and snacks! When I saw they were selling Apple Jacks, my jaw just dropped and felt as if I as in heaven already. They also told me that if I had other products that I wanted, they would also try to order them in too! Now that would be very handy indeed. Some products maybe a little more expensive than it's original price but remember, it's imported after all. Sometimes it's better than none right?

After having a look and whiff of the different scented candles, I went for this one. Lemon Mint Leaf. At first, it smells very pungent of a citrus spearmint but after burning it for a little while, somehow, it smells more like lemongrass instead. It's relaxing and very spa like. Definitely going back to the store for more!

Happy Mother's Day

We're not ones to celebrate much of Mother's Day nor Father's Day. Though, some (like us) will say that everyday can be a birthday, Valentines Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, apart from Easter and Christmas! Well, at least the mains ones can't be! But none the less! Wishing all mothers out there a very Happy Happy Mother's Day! Don't worry too much about what the present might turn out to be. It's the thought that counts right?

Beyond #100HappyDays

There are beyond 100 of the #100happydays photos here and I'm so glad and quite proud that I even managed to do it. In the beginning, it really was hard to keep up with finding what made me happy daily. Well, turns out, every day, there was at least one thing that really can cheer one's mood up even if you're in the slump. I wanted to challenge myself with this ever since I found out I have cancer. Ever since then, I really do question a myself alot more than usual. Since I felt like part of me, has left me, hoping that giving this challenge a go might be able to regroup myself mentally and emotionally, slowly somehow.

Being honest, I don't have as many friends left in Hong Kong, everyone seems to have moved on to different places for their good. Though, making new friends and making short trips have definitely made time fly by faster than I thought it would when I was feeling at my lowest. Learning something new, reading motivational quotes and friends and family visiting from far away really did make each day easier.

It's really opened my eyes that we all can live day by day with a happy thought(s). For each photo I look back from this challenge, I remember each one specifically. No wonder people say a photo is worth more than a thousand words. Not gona lie, I was struggling (still am...) but if anyone's going to try to do this #100HappyDays Challenge, I really do recommend it.

If you wanna see all my photos from Instagram it's on @stephlui88

So what are you waiting for? Go to 100happydays.com. Give it a go! Who knows what will happen?

With love,
